LITTLE FACTS AND BLOOPERS
(by Tim "TWO-FACE" Leighton)

Here is a section that just points out various little facts and bloopers that we have noticed while watching BTAS and STAS countless times. If you have anything to contribute, feel free to do so! Enjoy!

CONTRIBUTED BY STAFF:
We's got nuffin.

CONTRIBUTED BY OTHERS:
(By "Danny Leary")
1) In the end of the teaser in "Rebirth (Pt. 1)" Bruce hangs up his "new suit" in a glass case before claiming "never agian". Now we see five cases there, one of each holding the classic Batman costume, Batgirl costume, Robin costume, Nightwing costume and new batman costume. Yet in all episodes I can remember after 'Rebirth' we only see four cases holding the classic costumes. Shouldn't there be one empty case on the left where Terry first found the suit. Or did Bruce have it removed thinking he wouldn't need it anymore.

2) In "Hidden Adgenda" Max is sending her "I know who you are" e-mail to Terry. But what Max is dictating to herself out loud is not what is typed on the screen, that we see for one quick shot before she sends it. Both the dictation and typing are about knowing who Terry is and to meet her at the fountain. But I'm not talking a little difference here and there, the reading and typing are VERY different. I don't think the animator and writer and/or voice actor collaberated on just what the line was.

3) Also in "Hidden Agenda", I wouldn't believe for a second that an On/Off switch to that fountain would just be sitting there in plan sight. If that were the true case kids would run up and trun it off just to see that ball fall off it. Now if Batman had been smashed into some panel, opening it and revealing a switch I would be willing to accept that.

4) Did anyone notice that in the Batman Beyond episode "Terry's Friend Dates A Robot", in the last scene when Howard's parents get back from vacation.  If you look closely, you will notice that the parents are the same characters as the two hotel guests in the openning scene of The New Adventures episode "Love Is A Croc".  Can we say Cryogenics????

(by "LadyWayne")
5) She saw the exact same thing that Constantinos did. See above!

(by "Peter Destructo")
6) In "Mask of the Phantasm," when Alfred is reading the paper after Bruce Wayne's first masked escapade, an article further down from the one about Bruce is headlined by "Radomski to Press: 'I'm Innocent!'"

COMIC REVIEWS
(GOTHAM ADVENTURES by Tim "TWO-FACE" Leighton)
(BATMAN BEYOND by Tim Wan)

(Due to the lack of new issues to review for this week, editor Tim "TWO-FACE" Leighton has decided to give a review of BATMAN BEYOND #4. To read Tim Wan's review, check out of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED NEWSLETTER.)

BATMAN BEYOND (ongoing)
ISSUE: "Two Of A Kind" (#4)
WRITTEN BY: Hilary J. Bader
PENCILLED BY: Craig Rousseau
INKED BY: Rob Leigh
ISSUED: December 22, 1999 (cover date, Feb 2000)
RATING (out of 5): ***

The ongoing BATMAN BEYOND series continues to surpass the quality of the original, but the series comes ever more closer to regressing back to BEYOND's not so wonderful comic-book past.
Issue #4 of BEYOND started off well - just another outing with the Royal Flush Gang.  It was also nice to see some background on this group - there's still a lot to learn, though.  The Ace is a synthetic construct?  What does that mean, exactly?  He's cloned? A robot? What?
What really disappointed me was how implausible it was to give EVERY member of the Royal Flush Gang a double.  The WHOLE gang?  I would've prefered to see a twin of Melanie than the whole set of five. (Collet them all at your local fast food outlet.)
The art, as always, is terrific. I was worried that I had been spoiled by Rick Burchett
after his years of work on GOTHAM ADVENTURES - no other man could compare to him in the animated realm.  While he's still my favourite, many others are excellent, too - Rousseau and Leigh are a terrific team, and are well-suited to the BEYOND series.
Overall, a good effort, but a mediocre result. I look forward to future issues - I'd really like to see how Bader handles Shriek, Stalker, and other not-so-developed villains in these pages.

-Terry Beatty has been and will be selling Gotham Adventures and Batman Beyond original art on ebay. His Seller ID is: beatty@machlink.com  Do yourself a favor and check out some great art!

-On January 22, there was a poll at the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) asking who played the best Batman: West, Keaton, Kilmer, or Clooney. Guess who won? Last I checked, he was getting 67% of the votes.  Let's just say that his name SORT OF rhymes with..."Bicycle Eatin'."  Guess who lost? With just under 5% of the votes, a guy whose name SORT OF rhymes with "Engorged Bootie".

ANIMATED SERIES (BTAS, STAS, BEYOND)
-It looks like KIDS'WB! won't be airing LEGACY in January as originally predicted, but could air during February sweeps. We'll keep ya posted!
-CORRECTION: The writer for TERRY'S FRIEND DATES A ROBOT was John P. McCann of ANIMANIACS!/FREAKAZOID! fame, not Paul Dini.
-News on the third and final season of BATMAN BEYOND has been released. One of the tidbits is that SUPERMAN WILL appear in season three, but his appearance will have a sufficient effect on the series. To read the article, then click ont he URL Link below:

-Greg Rucka will be writing a Batman/Wonder Woman crossover later this year.
-BATMAN #577, Larry Hama's third outing as the writer of the series, features Bruce and Alfred combatting rats in Wayne Manor. Huh?

FEATURED BAT-SITE FOR THIS ISSUE

http://www.batmanuk.freeserve.co.uk/club/

This home page for this fan club has been updated and now you can see the covers of Issue 1 and 2 of Batman Animated. There is also a brief sneak peek at Issue 3 which is published in March 2000.

Batman Animated is a non-profit making fan club run by known UK Bat-fan Brian Davis
(www.batmanuk.freeserve.co.uk). It consists of a quarterly 30 page (mostly black and white) fanzine or 'fan-made magazine'. Each issue has articles on BTAS, TNBA and Batman Beyond.

Each issue of the magazine has various sections including :

News - the latest in the animated bat world
The Classics ( Michael Mandeville looks back at the very first Batman episodes), Episode Review (by James 'Dick Grayson' Harvey)
Episode Guide (a episode guide to the shows in part form with pics)
Upcoming Comics - listing of future animated comics with cover pics
WB Store : A section devoted to what's available in the WB Store this season
Trading Card Corner : Monthly guide looking back at various BTAS related sets
Fan Art : Great fan art is printed through-out
Media Reviews : Reviews of new videos, books etc that have been released as they saying goes 'all this and lots more ....'

Brian would like to point out 'this fanzine is 100% unofficial and is not associated with DC Comics and WB in any way, It is a non-profit making organisation and is made by fans for fans'.

The club is based in the UK but fans from all around the world are encouraged to join. You wont regret it !! As you only pay for postage and printing costs, prices are minimal. Brian is quite obviously doing this as a 'fan-base' and not to benefit his own pocket.

If you would like to find out more info on the club and how to join visit the site or e-mail Brian Davis at brian@batmanuk.freeserve.co.uk
