TELETOON Releases July 2009 Programming Highlights

Canada's TELETOON has released its programming highlights for TELETOON, TELETOON Retro, and TELETOON Detour in July 2009. TELETOON will be launching its "Laugh Riot" on weekdays starting at 7:00 AM (Eastern/Pacific), which will include shows like Wayside, Totally Spies!, and Chop Socky Chooks. The channel will also be showing new episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Stoked.

TELETOON Detour will be reviving the "Detour Dump" with titles like Tripping the Rift, Metalocalypse, Assy McGee, Sealab 2021 and Sons of Butcher. The Doctor Strange direct-to-video movie will also be making its debut on July 23, 2009, at 9:30 PM (Eastern/Pacific).

Finally, TELETOON Retro will continue with its selection of vintage and classic cartoons, including The New Adventures of Superman, The New Adventures of Batman, The Fantastic Four, The Raccoons, and Scooby-Doo.

EVERY DAY IS A LAUGH RIOT ON TELETOON THIS JULY



Toronto- This July on TELETOON, fans can tune in to an extended Laugh Riot every weekday starting at 7 am ET/PT. This special lineup continues throughout the summer and features popular TELETOON titles including Wayside, Totally Spies! and Chop Socky Chooks.

Also in July, TELETOON Presents offers great family films on Saturdays and Sundays. Titles airing this month include Batman Forever, Batman & Robin and Space Jam.


July 3 – July 9

Starting Monday, June 29 and continuing all summer long, viewers can watch an extended Laugh Riot lineup every weekday from 7 am to 4 pm ET/PT. Iggy Arbuckle kicks things off every morning at 7 am ET/PT, followed by fan favourites like Chop Socky Chooks, Totally Spies!, My Gym Partner is a Monkey and Wayside. On July 3 at 3 pm ET/PT, the Chooks wake up on a mysterious island full of perils, only to discover that they are pawns in Wasabi’s deadly new reality TV show in Chop Socky Chooks.

Also starting on June 29, back-to-back episodes of Atomic Betty move to 6 am ET/PT every weekday, followed by George of the Jungle at 6:30 am ET/PT.


July 10 – July 16

New episodes of Batman: The Brave and The Bold and Wolverine and the X-Men return to Action Force this July. On Sunday, July 12 at 9 am ET/PT, Aquaman celebrates his birthday by joining Batman on the planet Ram for an epic battle against the Gordanians in Batman: The Brave and The Bold. In Wolverine and the X-Men at 10 am ET/PT, Logan and Mystique join forces to rescue Christy Nord, who has been abducted by Weapon X.

Batman Forever is the TELETOON Presents movie on Sunday, July 12 at 11 am ET/PT. This star-studded film features performances by Nicole Kidman, Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey.


July 17 – July 23

On Sunday, July 19 at 7 pm ET/PT, inan all-new episode of the tween surfing series Stoked, Reef’s latest plot to pick up girls makes Fin jealous while Johnny misinterprets a comment from Emma and thinks they’re going on a date. Another tween comedy, 6TEEN, airs back-to-back episodes Monday through Thursday starting at 8:00 pm ET/PT. On Wednesday, July 22 at 8 pm ET/PT, Jen has had enough of Jonesy and his brothers’ endless pranks, so she enlists Wyatt’s help to pull her own prank on an unsuspecting Jonesy.

The TELETOON Presents movie on Sunday, July 19 at 11 am ET/PT is Batman & Robin, starring George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman.


July 24 – July 30

Michael Jordan teams up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes in Space Jam, the TELETOON Presents movie airing on Saturday, July 25 at 7 pm ET/PT. The Nerdlucks are a team of space creatures determined to kidnap the Looney Tunes and take them into outer space. The Tunes’ only way out is to beat the aliens in a basketball game, so Bugs and his friends recruit Michael Jordan to whip them into shape. Several NBA superstars, including Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman, appear in the film.

In Superfan Friday on June 24 at 8:30 pm ET/PT,Flash and Green Lantern team up to save Central City from an evil super genius named Gorilla Grodd ina new episode of Justice League. Starting at 6:30 pm ET/PT every Friday night, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Batman: The Brave and The Bold, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Wolverine and the X-Men round out the Superfan Friday lineup.

THE DETOUR DUMP IS BACK THIS JULY ON TELETOON DETOUR




Toronto- Every night at 9 pm ET/PT, TELETOON Detour heats up televisions with programming for teen and adult viewers. This July long weekend, the Detour Dump returns to the schedule with episodes of TELETOON Detour favourites and an opportunity for viewers to see their rants and opinions on screen.

On Thursday and Friday nights this month, The Detour Movie features film titles including the TELETOON Detour premieres of Blade II and Doctor Strange as well as broadcasts of X-Men and Hellboy: Sword of Storms.


July 3 – July 9

This Canada Day weekend, the Detour Dump is back. On Saturday July 4 and Sunday July 5, viewers can catch a variety of TELETOON Detour titles including Tripping the Rift, Metalocalypse, Assy McGee, Sealab 2021 and Sons of Butcher. Moral Orel kicks off the event on Saturday, July 4 at 11 pm ET/PT. Orel befriends a drug dealer in an attempt to be charitable to the poor, then recycles his own urine in order to prevent waste in back-to-back episodes of the show. At midnight on July 4, fans can tune in to watch supervillain Killface battle it out against billionaire-turned-superhero Awesome-X in six back-to-back episodes of Frisky Dingo. On Sunday, July 5 at 12 pm ET/PT, the Detour Dump will feature a six-episode marathon of Metalocalypse,which follows the exploits of heavy metal band Dethklok.

Also part of the Detour Dump,viewer messages and tweets will appear on screen during the Detour Dump shows. TELETOON Detour fans can visit detourdump.com to leave a message and vote on which TELETOON Detour shows they think are awesome or awful. Viewers can also comment on twitter using #Detourdump.

The TELETOON Detour Premiere of Blade II airs on Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 pm ET/PT. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, this second installment of the Blade film trilogy is directed by Guillermo Del Toro and stars Wesley Snipes. Fans can catch a second broadcast of the film on Friday, July 10 at 9:25 pm ET/PT.


July 10 – July 16

Tony Stark pays a visit to the Detour lineup on Thursday, July 16 at 9:30 pm ET/PT when animated feature, The Invincible Iron Man isthe TELETOON Detour movie. The film also airs at 11:30 pm ET/PT.

On Saturday, July 11 at 10 pm ET/PT, Joan of Arc is forced to move in with Cleopatra when her house burns down, leading to conflict between the pair in Clone High. At 10:30 pm ET/PT, Rick admits that Steve could be Dixie’s father in Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in the World. There’s only one way to find out for sure, so Steve is tricked into donating for a paternity test.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are seniors in a nursing home and a young Indiana Jones finds treasure in his elementary school in back-to-back episodes of Robot Chicken on Monday, July 13 at 10 pm ET/PT.


July 17 – July 23

On Thursday July 23 at 9:30 pm ET/PT, viewers can catch the TELETOON Detour Premiere of Doctor Strange, the animated feature produced by Stan Lee. Once a gifted surgeon, Dr. Stephen Strange is despondent when his hands are shattered in a car accident. Only upon travelling to Tibet to train with the Ancient One does Dr. Strange begin to regain his strength—just in time to face off against the evil Dormammu. A repeat broadcast airs on Friday, July 24 at 9:25 pm ET/PT.

X-Men is the Detour Movie on Friday July 17 at 9:30 pm ET/PT. Starring Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Romijn, X-Men follows a band of outcast mutants as they fight for understanding and peace against incredible odds.

In Punch! onSunday, July 19 at 9:30 pm ET/PT, Enrique Iglesias is in town and Jordan and Connie head to the concert in search of a scoop. Meanwhile, Johnny and the boss have been scheming behind the scenes.


July 24 – July 30

Hellboy: Sword of Storms, based on Mike Mignola’s comic book series, is the Detour Movie on Friday July 24 at 9:25 pm ET/PT. When a university professor becomes possessed by demons determined to destroy the earth, Hellboy and a team of associates must travel to Japan and intervene.

In Futurama on Saturday, July 25 at 9 pm ET/PT, Fry and Bender join the military to qualify for discounts, but end up battling aliens on a far-off planet.

On Sunday, July 26 at 10:00 pm ET/PT, it’s test of will power on Life’s a Zoo when the contestants are forced to spend 24 hours without their vices.

ADVENTURES WITH SUPERHEROES AND SEA CREATURES THIS JULY ON TELETOON RETRO




Toronto- This July, superheroes continue to lend their superhuman sense of adventure to the TELETOON Retro lineup every day at 7 am ET and 9 pm ET in episodes of The New Adventures of Superman, The New Adventures of Batman and The Fantastic Four.

Also this month, the end may be near for Cyril Sneer in The Raccoons and Scooby-Doo and the gang head to Scotland to solve an age-old mystery.


July 3 – July 9

Classic superhero cartoons start the day off right every morning at 7 am ET on TELETOON Retro. The New Adventures of Superman airs Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, The New Adventures of Batman hits the airwaves on Tuesdays and Fridays and the Fantastic Four do their thing on Wednesdays on Saturdays.

In The New Adventures of Batman on Friday, July 3 at 7 am ET, the joke’s on Batman when the Joker leaves a set of false clues in an attempt to turn Batman into the laughingstock of Gotham City. On Saturday, July 4 at 7 am ET/PT, Dr. Doom makes three doom-filled predictions that put Sue Storm-Richards at risk in Fantastic Four. Young Clark Kent discovers the truth about who and what he is and, upon reaching adulthood, finally assumes his role as the Man of Steel in The New Adventures of Superman on Sunday, July 5 at 7 am ET. A second broadcast of each episode airs at 9 pm ET daily.


July 10 – July 16

Viewers can travel through time every afternoon starting at 4:30 pm ET when The Jetsons and The Flintstones air back-to-back on TELETOON Retro. First stop, the future. On Monday, July 13 George must prove his love to Jane after she learns their marriage isn’t actually legal in The Jetsons at 4:30 pm ET. Back in the Stone Age, Fred hits the big time when he is chosen to demonstrate a new dance on national television in The Flintstones at 5 pm ET. The Flintstones also airs at 8:30 pm ET every evening.


July 17 – July 23

Fans can see the adventures of Alvin, Simon and Theodore from the beginning when TELETOON Retro airs the very first episode of Alvin & the Chipmunks on Sunday, July 19 at 8:30 am ET. Alvin tries to impress his girlfriend by claiming his band will appear on television, then has to convince the producer to book them in order to cover his tracks.

In The Raccoons on Wednesday, July 22 at 9:30 am ET, the Raccoons discover that Cyril Sneer only has a
few days to live, so they join forces with Bert to create a memorial for Cyril. Bert spends his life’s savings on the memorial and the gang works day and night to help him, only to discover that Cyril’s “illness” may not be what it seems.


July 24 – July 30

In Scooby-Doo on Sunday, July 26 at 7:30 am ET, the Loch Ness Monster is terrorizing the guests at a nearby hotel owned by Velma’s friend Aggie, so Aggie asks the gang to come to Scotland and solve the mystery of the famed creature once and for all.
