Disney Releases "Sleeping Beauty" Platinum Edition/Blu-ray Details

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released details on the upcoming Sleeping Beauty 2-disc Platinum Edition and Blu-ray home video releases. In addition to a digital remastering of the film (and its release in full 1080p high-definition resolution for the Blu-ray disc), both releases will include a raft of special features, including a recently uncovered alternate opening, a walkthrough of the original Disneyland Sleeping Beauty attraction, a new documentary on the making of the film, four deleted songs, "The Peter Tchaikovsky Story" documentary, and a "Four Artists Paint One Tree" featurette. Several special features will be in HD on the Blu-ray release.
The Blu-ray release will contain exclusive special features, including a Cine-Explore track with commentary by John Lasseter, Andreas Deja, and Leonard Maltin; a featurette on remixing the soundtrack for 7.1 HD sound; several exclusive games and features; and the launch of Disney's BD-Live Network. The Blu-ray will also include a bonus standard-definition DVD of the movie.
Suggested retail prices are $29.99 for the standard-definition DVD and $35.99 for the Blu-ray disc. For full details, read the press release here.
