Disney Channel: PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN ON NEW ANIMATED COMEDY SERIES DISNEY'S "PHINEAS AND FERB" FOR DISNEY CHANNEL.
.
BURBANK and PASADENA, July 10, 2006 . . . Production has begun on the new animated comedy series Disney's "Phineas and Ferb" chronicling two step-brothers who attempt to make their summer vacation spectacular by building the world's largest popsicle and a backyard roller coaster, among other innovative creations. The series will premiere next year on Disney Channel.
Created, directed and executive- produced by Emmy Award nominee Dan Povenmire ("Family Guy"), the series is a production of Walt Disney Television Animation. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, President, Entertainment, Disney Channel Worldwide.
Marsh said, "The boys' escapades give a whole new meaning to what summer vacation is all about and we know kids will enjoy the wish fulfillment possibilities and the fun-filled expeditions these two adventurers undertake."
Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale ("The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," "High School Musical") has a role as the voice of Candace, the older sister of Phineas and Ferb. The voice cast also includes Vincent Martella ("Everybody Hates Chris") as Phineas, Caroline Rhea (Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," ("Sabrina the Teenage Witch") as Mom and Dee Baker ("American Dad!") as Perry.
Phineas is a precocious bundle of energy who can't sit still. His silent partner in fun is Ferb, who has unquestioning allegiance to his step-brother, which precludes him speaking very often. On every adventure, Phinas and Ferb are accompanied by their pet platypus, Perry. To the casual observer, Perry is a docile mindless family pet, but unbeknownst to everyone, including Phineas and Ferb, Perry has a secret life as a government agent. The one fly in the ointment is Candace who, spurred on by her jealousy of her brothers' abilities to get away with even the most outlandish undertakings, makes it her own life's work to get them in trouble.
Disney Channel is a 24-hour general entertainment television network designed for kids and families and is currently available in over 87 million U.S. homes via basic cable.
