Fantasia Arks
Log onto uStream on Wednesday, August 27th at 9:30AM to watch and discuss a series of marathon comic inking with the creator of Fantasia Arks: The Phasmatis Crisis as he recreates the first two chapters of the story tirelessly!

To paraphrase Dave Reynolds, artist of ShadowGirls on the amount of work being done: "I do about 110 full color pages a year, but doing 200 black and white, graytoned in a matter of months...is just borderline "You've looked at Cthulhu."

Shaq Plays Ball With Kids' WB! This May!
Craig
Tues., May 1, 2001 21:58

What is Sweeps Month to me?--A Commentary.

To me, Sweeps Month is that time of year when all network executives take every TV show they can get their hands on, and strip them of any decency or integrity they might possess. It is a time for all execs, regardless of race or network, to join hands and dedicate themselves to one common cause: the downfall of Western civilization.

But this task is not always easy for them. It is often difficult coming up with ways to top their own stupidity of Sweeps past. But when time comes 'round for the May finales, we know we can always depend on them to sink to new lows! Huzzah!

A popular gimmick that has worked for many other networks is pointless appearances by popular celebrity figures! One such celebrity is oddly-named basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal, who will be appearing for three straight weeks in a very special series of interstitial shorts entitled "The New Adventures of Static Shaq," in which our boy Static will learn him good in the fine art of superheroing. Kids' WB! is referring to this as "the ultimate challenge." What's the challenge, you ask? You try sitting down to watch Shaq act for a few minutes, and you'll find out.

And, as if that weren't enough, they also will present some actual programming this Sweeps, including all-new episodes of your favorite series, utilizing such common Sweeps Month themes as showdowns with villains, globetrotting adventure, and exploitation of a death in the family for ratings purposes. Be there, or…uh…be somewhere else!

Without further ado...the eloquently-written press release!

BURBANK, CA (May 1, 2001) - "What is your super-natural ability…your superhero name? Do you have what it takes to become a real-life superhero? Also during May Sweeps, Kids' WB!'s Saturday morning line-ups will include the two-part season finale face-off with Magneto in the high-adventure series X-Men: Evolution (5/5, 5/12), a chilling race across Asia to stop Shendu from using the magical talismans for vengeance on the season finale of Jackie Chan Adventures (5/5), as well as all original programming of Pokémon: The Johto Journeys, The Zeta Project and Men in Black: The Series. In addition, for a special Mother's Day weekend (5/12), Kids' WB! will air the touching season finale of Static Shock, in which Virgil learns to cope with his mother's death.
