'Powerpuff Girls' on Video and DVD!
Wed, Sep 13 2000 21:14

An article on WizardWorld.com provided information on upcoming VHS and DVD releases for The Powerpuff Girls:

On November 7, Warner Home Video and Cartoon Network team up again for the latest crime-busting VHS releases -- and DVD debuts -- from the world's cutest superheroes, "The Powerpuff Girls."

Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup follow their successful video launch with the all-new "Birthday Bash" and "Dream Scheme" on VHS for $14.95. The release of "Down n' Dirty" and "Powerpuff Bluff" on DVD for $19.98 also marks the first-ever DVD titles for "The Powerpuff Girls." Additionally, Dexter is making his video debut in the feature-length movie, "Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip" available on VHS for $14.95.

"Birthday Bash" contains five action-packed episodes, along with Cartoon Network's bonus toon "Sheep in the Big City," for over an hour of entertainment. In "Birthday Bash," the Townsville party is spoiled as The Powerpuff Girls unwrap presents sent by arch party-poopers Mojo Jojo, the Princess and the Amoeba Boys. It will take all their Powerpuff powers for Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup to save the day. Other episodes on "Birthday Bash" include "Beat Your Greens," "Stuck Up, Up and Away," "School House Rocked," and "Los Dos Mojos."

"Dream Scheme" also includes five action-packed episodes, along with Cartoon Network's bonus toon "Courage the Cowardly Dog," providing an hour of entertainment. In "Dream Scheme," the Sandman puts the entire world to sleep forever so he can get some rest. Now, it's up to Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup to invade the Sandman's dreams...and wake him up with a Powerpuff-style nightmare he will never forget. Other episodes on the VHS release include "Down n' Dirty," "Just Another Manic Mojo," "Mo Job," and "Major Competition."

The Powerpuff Girls' debut on DVD with "Down n' Dirty" and "Powerpuff Bluff." Each DVD includes more than two hours of Powerpuff fun. "Down n' Dirty" contains the ten episodes featured on the "Birthday Bash" and "Dream Scheme" videos. "Powerpuff Bluff" includes favorite episodes selected by the fans and Cartoon Network as featured on the "Bubblevicious" and "Monkey See, Doggie Do" videos released on May 30, 2000. Episodes include "Uh Oh Dynamo," "Cat Man Do," "Mr. Mojo's Rising," "Powerpuff Bluff," "Bubblevicious," "Monkey See, Doggie Do," "Telephonies," "Mime for a Change," "Mommy Fearest" and "Bare Facts." Bonus features on each DVD include three Powerpuff Girls interactive games, DVD-ROM access to the official Powerpuff Girls Web site, a special Cartoon Network bonus toon, The Powerpuff Girls bios and trivia.

The legend of The Powerpuff Girls began when Professor Utonium set out to create the perfect little girls in his laboratory. He mixed in all the right ingredients - sugar, spice and everything nice. But when he accidentally added a mysterious fourth ingredient, Chemical X, Professor Utonium created the world's cutest superheroes, The Powerpuff Girls. Now, every time danger threatens their home of Townsville, these darling crimebusters fly in to save the day. And, like all good girls, they always do it before bedtime.

Nominated for an Emmy Award in 1999 and 2000 and named one of TV Guide's Top 10 New Kids Shows, "The Powerpuff Girls" airs five times a week on Cartoon Network. Called "perfectly drawn, perfectly written and perfectly voiced" by Los Angeles Weekly, the animated series is continuously a top-rated program with broad appeal among both boys and girls and has a loyal teen and adult following. "The Powerpuff Girls" was the first Cartoon Network original series to celebrate a home video release.

And another article on the same site provides some information on the upcoming VHS release of the TV movie Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip:

For the first-time ever, Dexter, the boy genius, debuts on video in his very first feature-length movie "Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip." In this video, Dexter is literally beside himself as he launches into a history-warping, gadget-filled mission to save the future. The time-hopping action commences as Dexter journeys far into the future to retrieve his all-powerful Neuratomic Proto-Core. Stolen by arch-enemy Mandark, Dexter's prized Proto-Core is being used to dumb-down the entire planet - leaving vile Mandark in charge.

As a bonus, each "Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip" video will feature episodes from two additional Cartoon Network originals, "Dial 'M' For Monkey" and "Justice Friends" for more than 70 minutes of Cartoon Network programming.

"We are excited to release the first home video from 'Dexter's Laboratory' and debut 'The Powerpuff Girls' on DVD," said Ewa Martinoff, Warner Home Video Vice President of Family Entertainment Marketing. "These releases will make an excellent addition to the growing Powerpuff Girls video collection."

"Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip" premiered on Cartoon Network in December 1999. "Dexter's Laboratory" has received four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Animated Series. "Dexter's Laboratory" airs 14 times a week on Cartoon Network and can be seen in over 64 million homes.
