New
Batman Beyond Fast Food Promo

2000
According to issue #91
of Lee's Action Figure News, Equity
Marketing will be releasing a line of Batman
Beyond fast food toys later this year, probably
through Burger King since they did the last one (and
being that they're a long-term client of EM).
My guess is it will probably be in conjunction with
the RETURN OF THE JOKER video release. The magazine
pic is kinda small, and since I don't have the means
to get a scan up currently, I'll describe the set the
best I can. They each have a little "action"
feature:
Jokerz Leader on bike with firing ramp
Batmobile with firing ramp
Bruce Wayne
action feature? I dunno, but I bet it has something to
do with the cane.
Inque
her left arm is nearly as long as her body, with a
hook at the end. But I wouldn't call it
"hooking" action - might be taken the wrong
way, y'know.
Batman with wings-popping-up action
Batman with "jumping" action (looks
like he's hurdling a wall or something)
Another one of Batman jumping something (a column,
maybe)
For the last one, all I can make out are the colors:
red and black. Maybe some sort of light-up Bat-insigna,
from the looks of it.
Check JOKER,
INC. in a few days and hopefully he'll have a pic
up by then.
BTW, I received my order last week for THE BATMAN
BEYOND FILES (by Scott Sonneborn and Liz Lewis; Watson-Guptill Publications) I'd asked others to
speculate on when I first saw it pictured in PREVIEWS
earlier this year. Turned out to be quite good,
actually. Covers the entire first season of BB, with
character profiles, model sheets, episode summaries,
but mostly comic-style artwork. The only thing I don't
like much about it (other than it being designed with
kids in mind) are the cut-and-paste graphics (and
overuse of differing fonts) featured on some pages are
overdone to the extent that it's tacky and crowded.
But it also includes 3 double-page spread posters.
I also think it's priced much too high at $12.95, but
since I didn't pay that much for it, I wasn't too
disappointed at least.
Here's two other items I meant to post last week, but
never got around to it:

Space Jam Special Edition DVD
The DVD will feature a commentary track by Director
Joe Pytka, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, as well as a
Making-Of featurette called 'Jammin' with Bugs Bunny
and Michael Jordan'. Since the movie has a lot of cool
music, three music videos have also been added tp the
package, namely R. Kelly's 'I Believe I Can Fly',
Seal's 'Fly Like an Eagle' and the Monstars' ''Monster
Anthem: 'Hit 'em High`. If you still haven't heard
enough music on the disc, you will also find the
film's isolated score on a separate audio track.
Of course, Warner is also adding the movie's original
theatrical trailer to the release as well as some DVD-ROM
features, like Weblinks, the updated theatrical
website that features games and chat areas. The
special editon will be released on July 25 and carry a
suggested retail price of $24.98.

Michael Jordan slams, Bugs Bunny jams and the Looney
Tunes stars hoop it up in this rim-rattlin' roundball
romp that's an inspired blend of live-action comedy
and cutting-edge animation. The Tune Squad takes on a
goon squad of aliens, the Nerdlucks, in a hardcourt
game to decide if the Looney Tunes stay on earth--or
become attractions at an intergalactic theme park
called Moron Mountain. The Nerdlucks have a monstrous
secret weapon on their side--they've stolen the skills
of top NBA stars like Charles Barkley and Patrick
Ewing and become the Monstars. But the Tune Squad has
its own weapon--the finest player in this or any
universe!

'SCOOBY-DOO'
ON FAST TRACK
According to The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's THR E-MAIL
column,
WARNER BROS.' live-action SCOOBY-DOO film is back on
the fast track.
Screenwriter James Gunn (The Specials) recently turned
in
his draft for the film, and the studio is reportedly
still
trying to lure Mike Myers to play Shaggy.
