Here's a bit of news on WB's tribute to Mel Blanc,
from animag.com:
http://www.animag.com/news/2000/06/21.html
Warner Bros. Studio Store has just unveiled a
moving and talking tribute to Mel Blanc, the
legendary voice of the Looney Tunes. The new
interactive animation art piece, entitled "Speechless
Power Picture," is based on the original lithograph
created to memorialize Blanc in trade publications
following his death in 1989, and has sold more than
50,000 pieces. The new "Speechless Power Picture"
uses newly developed Power Pictures technology
from Animated Animations to move through several
images while bringing the voice of Mel Blanc alive for
collectors of all ages. Noel Blanc, son of Mel Blanc
and chairman of Warner Blanc Audio Associates, was
at the unveiling and commented, "For years we have
been wondering how to put my father's voice in the
'Speechless' lithograph. My dad with his unique
voice, tells the story of the creation of the Looney
Tunes characters." www.wbstore.com
Also worth mentioning is the in-depth article
on June
Foray ("June Foray's Remarkable Career") by Michael
Mallory in the June edition of ANIMATION MAGAZINE. It
features interview quotes, career highlights and some interpreting
trivia. Last I checked animag.com hadn't
updated to show the new Chicken Run cover.
June Foray is also profiled in the August edition of
CINEFANTASTIQUE (Volume 32, #2) in a single-page
article/interview by Joe Fordham ("Rocky: June Foray
on her return to Frostbite Falls"). Of the two
articles, the one by Mallory is better-written and
much more interesting. However, Fordham's article has
more quotes.
It's nice to see June featured
- and I almost forgot to mention that the Rocky &
Bullwinkle spotlight in CINEFANTASTIQUE also offers a
recent photo of June looking very lovely even in her
golden years, as well as a classic photo of her with
Jay Ward and Bill Scott from the early 60s.

25 'Pokémon' GRADUATE
HASBRO has announced its first Pokémon GRADUATION
CEREMONY, marking the beginning of the end of its
original series of two-inch and bean-filled plush Pokémon figures. As of now, HASBRO will no longer
make 25 toys, including those based on Psyduck (#54),
Wigglytuff (#40), Drowzee (#74), Mew (#151), and
Geodude (#74), and a second graduating class will
be announced on July 31st.
"How better to honor these fine Pokémon toys, and
to acknowledge the fun and excitement they represent
to kids, than through a graduation ceremony," said
HASBRO marketing VP Perry Drosos. "Kids love to
collect Pokémon toys and now it's up to these young
fans to catch `em all, and complete their collections
before the original series of characters is gone."
Pikachu (#25) has been awarded an honorary "Doctor
of Pokémon" degree and will remain in the toy
line-up indefinitely.
A new series of Pokémon characters, including
those based on this summer's film and the new
GOLD & SILVER game and TV series, will be released
sometime this fall, as will the Pokémon THINK CHIP
BATTLE STADIUM.

Kids WB Previews!!!
Thu Jun 15 13:29:22 2000
Rembrandt
I recently checked out the official previews of Jackie
Chan, Static Shock and X-Men Evolution on 4colorreview.com.
Here's a run down:
Jackie Chan: The preview shows no actual animation, but tons
of clips of Jackie Chan in his movies. The show is described
as being an action adventure-comedy, though it never actually
says
that. The plot of the show is that Jackie Chan works in a task
force or something of that sort that tries to stop some bad
guys, but by making sure is niece, Jade, is okay and stays out
of trouble. It also includes a clip of Jackie Chan saying why
he chose to do this show.
Static Shock: The preview includes some shots of animation w/
music of Emimen and Beastie Boys played simultaneously in the
background. It also includes interviews w/ the producers.
X-Men Evolution: This preview contained clips from the
producers, as well as some shots from the show. The X-Men will
sort-of be outcasts, or at least, they feel like they don't
fit in and want to be like everyone else. The show is going to
explore the good and bad things of being a teenager.
