Got Milk? Get Batman!!!
Tue Jun 20 08:41:03 2000
Gookie

Purchase two gallons of milk at your local grocery/convenience store, and you can get a free copy of ADVENTURES with the DC SUPER HEROES - a 30-page magazine from DC COMICS.

Geared toward younger readers, this magazine offers activities, games, comics and a behind-the-scenes look at BATMAN BEYOND, featuring brief interviews with producer/artist Bruce Timm and producer/writer Paul Dini. [In case anyone is wondering, the article contains neither spoilers on the next season of Batman Beyond, nor details on Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. The pictures of Timm and Dini included are from Batman Animated, as are some of the quotes. Nothing really new in this article, folks.]

ADVENTURES With The DC SUPER HEROES is a promotional tie in with the MILK MOUSTACHE DC SUPER HEROES SWEEPSTAKES
(full details at dcmilk.com)

Also contributing to the magazine are individuals involved with DC's animated Batman titles: writer Scott Peterson, and artists Craig Rousseau and Ron Boyd.

To those for whom a "kiddie" mag might have a limited appeal (other than collectors), it's worth noting that this FREE magazine contains over $100 savings in coupons:

- 10% off all DC Comics merchandise at any Warner Bros Studio Store

- $2 savings on any Batman Beyond toys from Hasbro.

- $5 mail-in rebate on any Batman Beyond video titles; Batman: Mask of the Phantasm; The Batman/Superman Movie; and Superman: Last Son of Krypton. But only if you buy two gallons of milk, y'know.

- and besides two other coupons you all really could care less about, there's a final one for $1 off of Batman or Superman UNDERROOS from Fruit of the Loom! Whoo-hoo!

I'm not sure how far this offer reaches, but I'd assume it's statewide for those in the U.S. I picked up my copy at a gas station, and the guy didn't even make me buy any milk. [I rarely drink the stuff - it doesn't do this body any good. Calcium tends to give me kidney stones.]

But hey, it's free, and it's not too bad, especially for amusing artwork like this picture of Batman "building" a website in a plug for ACMECity:

Other news I feel like mentioning, from today's news at Comics Continuum:

Noted Batman writer (along with tons of other scripts for other animated series) Michael Reaves has penned a story for Superman Adventures #49, with art by Aluir Amancio and Terry Austin; cover by Mike Manley and Austin.

The story: Superman must wage hand-to-hand combat for the future of Earth...without his super-powers. An alien warrior has taken away Superman's powers by turning the sun red. How will the Man of Steel beat him in unarmed combat?

32 pages, $1.99, ships on Sept. 6.

New product coming from DC Direct, with information from DC Comics.

BATMAN EMBLEM RING

This all-new version of Batman's current "retro-style" chest emblem is etched across a cast sterling-silver ring and finished with flat black enamel.

Whole sizes, 6-13, $79.95, ships on Dec. 20.

Look for both items to be available in an upcoming edition of PREVIEWS.
