MONDAY-THURSDAY LINE-UP DEBUTS WITH "POKÉMON TOP 15 COUNTDOWN" ON SEPT. 4
BURBANK, CA (August 22, 2000) Kids' WB!, a leader in kids' television, sets precedent in kids' programming with the roll out of its new, innovative and diverse 2000-2001 powerhouse schedule, featuring the network's hallmark ingredients: high-adventure; humor and heart; compelling storylines; distinctive style; and kid relatable characters for boys and girls. The new schedule will officially kick-off with the new Monday-Thursday line-up beginning on Monday, Sept. 4, the Saturday morning line-up premiering on Saturday, Sept. 9 and the all-new "Fraturday" (formerly known as Friday) line-up debuting on Sept. 15.
The network's new Saturday morning and weekday slates will include the next evolution of reigning #1 series on television for kids, Pokémon: The Johto Journeys, plus the new animated series Jackie Chan Adventures, Static Shock, X-Men: Evolution, The Zeta Project and Generation O!, along with all-new episodes of the returning highly-rated hits Pokémon, Cardcaptors, Batman Beyond, Men In Black: The Series, Max Steel and other Kids' WB! favorites.
The network's new Saturday morning slate will roll out as follows:
On Saturday, Sept. 9, Kids' WB! is thrilled to bring international action hero, Jackie Chan, to television in his first animated series for kids, Jackie Chan Adventures (9:00 a.m. ET). The series will follow Jackie and his feisty 11-year-old niece, Jade, as they embark on a global quest to recover 12 magical talismans. Jackie Chan will appear in live-action segments in every episode. The Saturday line-up also will include original episodes of Pokémon set in the Orange Island League at 10:00 a.m. ET and its new 8:30 a.m. ET time period.
The Saturday, Sept. 16 line-up will be highlighted with the premiere of Daytime Emmy-nominated returning hits, Men In Black (8:00 a.m. ET) in its fourth season of 13 comical new episodes, and the new millennium's Batman Beyond (11:00 a.m. ET) with 13 original adventures. Also debuting is the second
season of Max Steel (11:30 a.m. ET) with 13 high-adrenaline episodes which will reach extreme levels of adventure this season with special animated guest appearances by the world's greatest skateboard legend Tony Hawk and Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath.
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Kids' WB! is proud to introduce the first animated African-American teen superhero in Static Shock (10:30 a.m. ET). Based on the Milestone/DC Comic property, the series will follow quick-witted Virgil Hawkins, who becomes the electromagnetic "Static"- a super hero to his community. The series will confront problems and issues faced by today's kids, including peer pressure, gangs and growing up in an ethnically diverse urban neighborhood.
Kids' WB! will take it to the next level with the debut of the highly-anticipated all-new adventure for the #1 series on television for kids, Pokémon: The Johto Journeys (10:00 a.m. ET), beginning Saturday, Oct. 14. The series will introduce Ash and his friends on a whole new quest to an unknown land with at least 100 never-before-seen Pokémon characters, tying in with the launch of the Pokémon Gold and Silver Game Boy games from Nintendo.
Get ready to start the weekends early - now Saturdays begin on Fridays only on Kids' WB! - with the debut of the all-new "Fraturday" (formerly known as Friday) line-up, beginning Sept. 15. The new "Fraturday" schedule will include the smash-hit favorite Pokémon (7:00 a.m. ET) teamed up with the Tomorrow Knight Batman Beyond (7:30 a.m. ET) to jump-start the day. The "Fraturday" afternoon block will include the mischievous gang in the pro-social comedy Detention (3:00 p.m.); original episodes of this summer's newest Kids' WB! Japanese anime adventure Cardcaptors (3:30 p.m.) which follows Sakura and her partner Li on their quest to recover the magical Clow cards; at 4:00 p.m., Pokémon includes third season all-new episodes of the Orange Island League and will continue into the new Pokémon: The Johto Journeys; and at 4:30 p.m., Generation O!, featuring 8-year-old music sensation Molly O! - the voice of her generation - and her top-10 band, will turn it up a notch on "Fraturday" afternoons.
Kids' WB! will premiere its new Monday-Thursday line-up in-pattern on Monday, Sept. 4 with the highly-anticipated "Kids' WB! Pokémon Top 15 Countdown." The Pokémon countdown will include episodes featuring the top 15 favorite Pokémon characters voted for by more than 700,000 kids across the country during a 3-week online summer promotion. During the week of September 4-9, the countdown will air on Monday-Thursday (7:00 a.m. ET and 4:00 p.m.); Friday (7:00 a.m. ET and 3:00-4:30 p.m.); and on Saturday (8:00-9:00 a.m. ET, 9:30-10:30 a.m. ET and 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. ET). In addition to Pokémon (7:00 a.m. ET and 4:00 p.m.), the new Monday-Thursday line-up also includes the educational Warner Bros.' Histeria! (7:30 a.m. ET), The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries (3:00 p.m.), Men In Black: The Series (3:30 p.m.) and Batman Beyond (Tuesday-Thursday) with special bonus airings of Max Steel (Monday) at 4:30 p.m.
Also coming to Kids' WB! later this fall will be The Zeta Project, the story of Zeta, a renegade government-designed robot, and Ro, his 15-year-old street-wise companion, fugitives on the run from a government that doesn't understand them; and X-Men: Evolution, based on the Marvel Comics favorite and building on the popularity of the top-grossing summer "X-Men" movie, Kids' WB!'s series takes the superheroes back to their origins as young adolescents when they are first learning about their mutant powers and becoming a team.
