Saturday, August 12, 2000 7:08A year ago this month, Warner Bros
Feature Animation released "The Iron Giant", directed by Brad Bird, to
highly-acclaimed reviews, but disappointing box office results. Although the video and DVD
release sold well, the film's admirers have been eagerly awaiting news of a "special
edition" release for the DVD format.
Although not yet officially announced or confirmed by Warner Bros, a very reliable inside
source has relayed the news that a Special Edition DVD release of "The Iron
Giant" has been tentatively set for April, 2001.
Warner Bros is said to be "committed" to this project, and the DVD will include
"tons of goodies", with "at least five minutes of the deleted scenes",
including:
- Pencil test of Hogarth and Annie during the storm, nearly running down Earl Stutz.
- The giant's dream sequence, presented in Macromedia Flash.
Hopefully, we'll have more news on this soon, with a confirmation from Warner Home Video.
Thanks to "WriterGuy" for the news.
